methinks they are being clever with the annual account fee.

One question: Do we know if the 50% bonus will also count towards GE qualification/requalification? If it did, with the new earning rate it would mean you could earn 1110 of the 1350 Airbucks required to requal for GE with one BP round-trip AKL-LHR-AKL.

It should do - has in the past.

Per the NZ Airpoints T&Cs (http://www.airnz.co.nz/airpoints_tc.htm)

5.1 Only Airpoints Dollars (as described in the published Airpoints Dollars schedules and earned on Qualifying Flights on Air New Zealand, Air New Zealand Link and Star Alliance Carriers' services) count towards calculating Tier Status.

No mention made of bonus points not counting towards tier status. As the bonus is earned on a Qualifying Flight they are included for status purposes.

5.2 Travel booked in classes L, G, S, K, N, X, R, I, and P (which includes Smart Saver Fares) on all Air New Zealand routes do not count towards Tier Status - nor do Airpoints Dollars earned on non-Star Alliance Carriers or on the purchase of goods or services from Non-Airline Rewards Partners. Airpoints Dollars earned in promotional bonuses also do not count towards Tier Status unless we specify otherwise at the time. The qualifying criteria for Tier Status can be changed at any time without notice. Please visit our website airnewzealand.com for the current qualifying criteria.

I don't think they will count as was in the 50% Singapore bonus last year.
