Gary/Chicago International Airport has landed a new carrier to resume flights to several vacation destinations, its first scheduled operator since Hooters Air went bankrupt and pulled out last January.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Sky Value USA, a subsidiary of British charter carrier Sky Value Ltd., will start flying out of Gary on Dec. 1, according to airport director Chris Curry.

Sky Value tentatively plans three flights a week to Orlando and twice-a-week service to Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg, Las Vegas and Williams Airport near Phoenix.

I live in Munster, IN and the majority of my family is on the far south side and the rest live in Phoenix, would be very useful!

I wish GYY would become the next Chicago airport.
