Hertz - Giving away ZE1 weekly rental allowed?

Question: Never seem to use my #1 points (always traveling overseas where the points are worthless), and have a bunch expiring in December, and so I was thinking of spending 4,000 points, and giving my sister a free weekly minivan rental (usa). Has anyone done this? Hertz corporate told me that you can only give to spouse (which seems crazy)? If I can do it, do I have to get the cert mailed, or can we do it electronically? What is best. Thanks for help. No flames, it is my sister.

I am using some points this weekend and my brother gets in 5 hours ahead of me and wanted to pick up the car. I called Hertz and asked if I could put the rental in his name. They gave me the same answer - I could only add an additional driver if that person was my spouse.
In your case, you may have some options. I'm not saying you should do this but I'm just thinking outloud here. If you and sister still share the same last name, you could put her name on the reservation as a spouse (this might be plausible if you live in the South...jk) and she could pick it up from the gold lot.

Not same last name anymore. I will try to petition customer service. Seems like dumb rule. Can give away award tickets, but as usual, can't do anything with my ZE1 points.... Great program, Hertz.

Presumably he has the same last name...why not have him be your life partner for 5 hours? :D

Great program, Hertz.
I thought the same. I had about 10 "free day" certs sitting in my office, and went to use one for a trip where my parents were arriving a day earlier then I was. I was told I COULD use the free days/ze1 points for my trip, if I picked up the car. My parents could not pick it up. I was PI$$ED. I have about 50 rentals this year so far, including a long term rental at home for the past 7 months. Hertz said sorry.
So.....I sent them a nice letter, wondering where I could send the certs back, and lettting them know I would like to fax a copy of my next 5 rentals that I secured through AVIS. I did receive an email back, and was given a voucher for $75 for EACH free day rental I had.
Its still sad. I have gone to National/Avis. I am tired of never being able to use points, then using points and NOT getting the car I wanted, and NEVER getting an upgrade. Oh well, guess thats why we have vanilla and chocolate?
