Enroll (https://www.southwest.com/rrenroll/dulles/) to RR and get 8 credits, then take one return flight to or from IAD - preferably a $39 DING! fare - and get 4 more credits. Apply for the Southwest Visa credit card for 4 additional credits (it costs $59, but it seems that you can get $20 back when applying via this link (http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webcgi/webserve.cgi?partner_dir_name=southwest_airlines_I C&page=cont&DATA=CLICK_ID:0)). You're now at 16 credits - enough for a free return flight.

From the enroll link above,

"Join Rapid Rewards and get 8 free credits. All you have to do is enroll by January 31, 2007."

Maybe I've been hiding under a rock but that is news to me.

Keep in mind: this only applies to new IAD customers, I'd imagine. But that's a really nice deal, considering the $25 DING! fares to MDW that have been popping up.

Thanks, maybe that explains why I'd missed it. Still, I don't see any mention at all of IAD-only on that linked page from the original post, it kind of makes me wonder.

For whatever it's worth a family member enrolled in RR in early August, they only received a 2 flight credit signup bonus for "Web Open Enrollment" (they aren't in the Dulles area).

While I see Dulles mentioned in the offer, I don't see anything in the rules that say the person has to be based or fly from there. I sent a link for the promotion to a friend of mine who I'm flying PHL-CMH with in November. I'll let you know what happens when he signs up.

I was not targetted. I registered a new account and when I sign in, it's now showing:

Credits earned 10/04/2004 - 10/04/2006: 8
Credits needed to earn my next award: 8
My 16th credit must be earned by: 10/01/2008

When I got my RR account I didn't get ANY credits at all for enrolling online. Bac then though you got four credits for every flight booked online

Northern Virginia (near IAD)

Mind if I ask if you made it up or have an address there you can use? If you'd like to answer by PM, by all means. I can probably use my friend's address for sign-up, but it's near BWI.

It says "Plus, you’ll receive double credit each time you book on southwest.com and fly by January 31, 2007."

Does this mean you can fly out of any airport and get double credit, if you register through this link? Not only IAD??

Chase Southwest Signature Visa Offer - 8 Credits (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=577463)

My favorite way to earn credits, Hertz 2-day weekend rentals using PC 981013 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5767387#post5767387) which gets a $15 discount and triple Southwest credits (1.5 credits).

I don't know if this has changed since it was originally posted as it wasn't quoted here in its entirety.

"Join Rapid Rewards and get 8 free credits. All you have to do is enroll by January 31, 2007. That puts you halfway to a free Award (16 credits). Plus, you’ll receive double credit each time you book on southwest.com and fly by January 31, 2007. That means you can fly 2 roundtrips into or out of Dulles and get 1 roundtrip free (it usually takes 8 roundtrips to get 1 free!) to anywhere we fly."

I suppose the only way to *truly* know if double credit is valid on all routings is for someone to actually take a flight that doesn't include Dulles. The language is a little vague on this one and nobody's come forward yet with clarification.

One other question - the address you signed up using, was it near Dulles or in the Washington, DC metro area?

Thanks!

for the curious, i enrolled my 2 year old, who lives nowhere near dulles, and he received the 8 credit signup bonus.

I can confirm that I have been receiving double credits on my flights booked through southwest.com traveling from any airport Southwest services. I have been receiving 4 credits per roundtrip (2 credits one-way). I had no idea of this promotion and wasn't targeted for anything, it just started to happen.

Did you sign up through the IAD link and get the 8 credits? You can ask costumer service and they'll tell you why you got the double credit. I'm driving right past BWI to go to IAD to get the double credits and would prefer to fly from BWI.

OK, I'm an existing RR member, who's just about to accumulate 16 credits for a free ticket. Once I do so, is there anything to prevent me from "abandoning" that account and signing up for a new account with the 8 bonus credits to get me on my way to another free ticket?

Thanks!

There are reportedly processes in place to prevent this unethical behavior.

"Unethical"? A bit harsh I'd say. Asking for a "new customer discount" does not strike me as being "unethical." Of course, a company is within its rights to try to restrict it.

I guess I'm missing how an existing RR member suddenly qualifies as new. YMMV.

i also just looked at my account and noticed the double credits and i've never flew out of dulles before (only bwi).

Ok, before I start asking the question I'd like to say that I did receive the initial 8 credits and am VERY happy to have them. I'm not really based in IAD area and recently flew a RT not involving IAD and only eared a single credit for each way. Would've been nice to be able to get the bonus credit but oh well :p

Which 2 cities did you fly between? Some have said they got the double credit for BWI. Thanks

Actually, I once signed up one RR account for my son, but since he rarely flew SWA, and he forgot the account number, then he signed up another RR account himself. I don't think SWA cares about this thing that much.

that's weird. a couple of my family members forgot they had accounts (only flew with them once in the past) and tried to sign up again, but they said they already had accounts. i thought they required SSN during signup.
