We'll be spending few days in both Cape Town and Durban in early November. In either of them we could spare one day (not over night in the game reserve) in a day trip to a game reserve. Could anyone recommend where would be the best place to go or better even, if some knows a good tour operator which organizes something like this for just one day?

There is a game reserve just outside Cape Town called Aquila
Between durban and Pietermaritzburg is Tala Game reserve. About 40 minutes drive from Durban.
Thanks Pete, I'll check them out :)
There seems to be many tour operators that sell the one-day Sani Pass/Lesotho tour departing from Durban. Has anyone been on this tour? Is it something worth to consider?

If you are into mountain passes, Sani Pass is quite specatular. It is due to be tarred in the near future, which will take a lot of the fun out of it. The trip up and down is also interesting for birders looking for montane species, but definitely not for wildlife spotters. If in the vicinity I would probably pop up the pass, but I wouldn't drive all the way from Durban.
