I would like some real users opinions on NAS.

On the must have list is:
*Flexible configurations for LAN/WAN access
*USB ports for printers etc
*Need only be wired ethernet

On the would be nice to have list is:
*Some server functionality for basic web/ftp
*Support for two disks with mirroring
*Work with itunes
*Be able to stream dvd images (one at a time is enough)
*Card reader for easy photo download for the rest of the family

I've looked into products from Synology which looks nice, but haven't seen so many hands on reports.

I think the Buffalo Terastation might fit the bill.

Anything that can be mounted in windows using SMB can be used in iTunes.

I've got the Infrant ReadyNAS NV (http://www.infrant.com/products/products_details.php?name=ReadyNAS%20NV) - I think it meets all your requirements except the card reader.

I've seen the Infrant ones and they look nice, don't know about local availability though, I'll look it up. More suggestions are welcome.

This might not be exactly what you're looking for:

However, I think it's the best consumer NAS product out there. It also happens to do one important thing which is pretty rare in the NAS world: it spins idle drives down after a certain amount of inactivity.

I've found the off the shelf NAS boxes to poor performers... After
dealing with 3-4 different types, I'm use a Linux box to do
the same. and there is no real limit on how much data I can store.

I just received my Infrant ReadyNAS NV today. I haven't spun it up yet. I ordered from

www.eaegis.com

They were knowledgeable, have the newest Seagate drives, and the best prices I've seen.

mikel51: Thanks for that link, they look like a great source. Which drive config did you opt for?
