Dollar - Dollar and LAS renting locations

By accident, through a mistype, I discovered that renting a SUV Standard from LAS to LAS is $43 per day but the same rental (same days) picking up from a Dollar office at one of the hotels (say Treasure Island LASC11) is double at $89 per day.

I would not question a fee for picking up at a non-depot location but not a change in the daily rate to double.

Surprised it is double, but they seem to have caught on that people are renting at remote sites to avoid the steep airport fees at LAS. Check the tax amounts on the two options and you will see.

In the past, Dollar rates for LAS used to vary by location -- sometimes the airport rates beat out the hotel car-rental rates, even with those whopper airport taxes. Other times the hotel car rates were lower, but that seems to be a thing of the past. Maybe that change has something to do with the new LAS consolidated car rental facility opening in the future -- just a guess but perhaps Dollar rates at the hotels will stay higher so renters will be enticed to use the new airport-area facility and help pay for it.
