http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060923/BUSINESS03/609230316/1071The state's No. 2 airline said yesterday that it will no longer accept go! tickets when go! flights are canceled or delayed. Aloha also said it will no longer accept go!'s passenger baggage when go!'s planes are overloaded.
Airlines usually honor their competitors' tickets for canceled or delayed flights, and will often carry their excess baggage.
But Aloha said go! is attempting to put Aloha and Hawaiian out of business with "sham" fares.
"There is evidence that go! has a plan to drive out hometown airlines and then raise prices for its own gain," said David Banmiller, Aloha's chief executive officer.I'd agree. This fare war is getting rather ridiculous. It is clearly obvious that go! isn't making any money off their inter-island operations. Slashing fares to $19 seems to point out some ulterior motive by go! But, I won't comment on what I think that motive is.

Actually it is stupid, because go! would be paying Aloha the full fare for each seat it filled. Aloha is losing money this way, and passengers. Just think of how they could turn all those people flying on go! and probably having a bad experience because they are getting bumped over to Aloha. That is okay because now go! can say that Aloha won't take your tickets because they have a grudge.

No offense to your company or to you, but with loads averaging 60-70%, there aren't that many people getting bumped off go! flights to begin with, is there? Just a question... Are there a lot of people getting bumped off go! flights to begin with?

But... if Hawaiian were also to drop interlining with go!, then if go! had to cancel a flight their passengers would be stuck until the next one rather than being able to jump over to HA or AQ. That would leave customers with a bad experience with go! They'd see that if they book with go! and things go bad they're stuck, while if they book HA or AQ they can go to the other when there are problems.
Look at the mainland, people complain about when Southwest does have problems, because they don't have interline agreements with anyone but ATA, they can't put their customers on other airlines when things go bad.

Wow, that's a pretty wild statement from one of the two airlines that have had essentially a duopoly in the market for years.

Nope, it says that AQ is here for the money and not for the people. It aslo tells pax that AQ doesnt care if you make it to your destination or not, they say if you pay us an exorbant fee for this flight we will take you. :td:
Apparently, it is true that AQ doesn't care about the people, just the bottom line.

It happens, not often but it does.

Thats exactly the point. I was a little upset that Aloha was carrying go!'s luggage for them. I heard the pilots union wanted to do something but couldn't.
Now people will find out even more that when they want to fly on a cheap airline, they really will get cheap.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is my understanding that AQ is under no obligation whatsoever to handle any excess tickets or baggage sent their way by go!. They can take on everything if they want to (and thus be paid accordingly), or they can choose not to take it. If this is the case, they're just now setting their foot down saying they won't accept any of their stuff.
Honestly, in light of the info that has been extracted lately, I'm not the least bit surprised they've decided to do this.

From this, should one deduce that Hawaiian isn't carrying go!'s luggage, and never was in the first place?

Look's like AQ is going thru with not accepting Go's passengers!
I traveled from Ogg to Hnl this morning and noticed a few irate passengers at the GO ticket counter. While I was checking in at AQ's F/C line I inquired with my cousin (AQ agent) what the commotion was at GO. He told me that Go's 6:25am flight this morning will be delayed for about 90 minutes because they needed a replacement pilot to be flown in from Hnl on Go's 8 am arrival from Hnl. He informed me that Go's ticket agents(UA contract) advised their passengers that they will not be sending any to passengers to AQ or HA because they will not accept their FIM's. If they wanted to travel on AQ or HA they would have to purchase new tickets with them. He also told me that about 25 GO passengers already purchased new tickets with them.
He did not tell me if those passengers with GO tickets will have them refunded by Go.
I guess what service you get is what you pay for!
