Well since they do very passable food+booze in economy on these long haul flights, I imagine you will be treated very well in business....

Just did this leg in Business Premier. Check the catering thread where I posted a menu. Menu was similar to another recent posting by CGK.

In BP, you'll get a pre-takeoff glass of sparkling wine or champagne. Meal begins about one hour into the flight. I found the pace of the meal too fast for my liking, but they seem to emphasize allowing pax to sleep as long as they like which explains the brisk service.

There will be a choice of three main courses, or a light main course if you'd rather have a light meal before bed. You can also opt for a fast-dine meal.

Breakfast is served about 60-90 minutes prior to landing. If you want to try to sleep in, give your breakfast card to the FA before you go to bed. Choice of two hot mains or a selection of breads, cereals, yogurts. Sadly, I was unable to get any Marmite for my toast. Isn't this a Kiwi airline?! :p

There is a self-serve snack area available at all times in the BP cabin, both upper deck and main deck. Additionally, there's a decent array of food in the lounge at LAX before your flight. When I was there, I think the lounge selections were fruit, cheeses, breads, pasta salad, chicken wraps, small cheese pizzas, and some desserts.

What sort of "snacks/drinks" do they have in the self serve area upstairs ? Do they actually leave bottles of wine there ?

Details please :)

The snacks are nothing special - fruit (apples, bananas); the vegetable crisp things; various candy bars; cereal (I think - but I can't remember).

Yes, they leave bottles of wine and champagne there, orange juice, apple juice, and bottles of water.

As previous mentioned, NZ offers a dinner service for this late flight. I seem to end up on this late flight more often than the earlier one. I tend to eat a reasonable meal before the flight, then opt for the light quick snack as opposed to the full blown dinner service. I am on this flight again in early November and will likely chow down in the KC.

My rationale: It is roughly a 12 hour flight. First two hours spent eating, drink or two, settling in, movie. Take a sleeping pill, try and get a solid eight hours sleep. Wake for a breakfast about two hours prior to arrival in AKL. Arrive in AKL fresh and ready to go.

This will be first flight in the new seats, looking forward to it, but will miss the old F.

Cheers, sounds like fun for me then :) :D

We should've had the sense to post and ask like you're doing!

We were going the other direction and had a late night flight (in F!). Figuring the flight was long after the dinner hour, we had a grand meal on our last night of the honeymoon.

Upon boarding and seeing the dinner menu...well, we forced ourselves to live it up one final time. :D

On my two BP flights in recent weeks, the wine is set out in the self serve areas during dinner only. After the meal service, water bottles out but no wine.

I also thought the snacks were nothing special. Granola bars and fruit. One segment had veggie chips. Blah.
