We'll be coming into Auckland from Tokyo (via Christchurch) in BP on ANZ. Does anyone know if we can use the business class lounge in AKL? We've got about a 3 hour layover until our connecting flight (domestic), would be nice to be able to hang out someplace more pleasant. No status, sadly. Thanks!

Assuming your onward flight is on Air NZ then you will have access to the domestic Koru Club. It has showers and is pretty good (decent spread of food, lots of free drink - over 20 different kinds of beer last time I checked, computer terminals, newspapers etc).

Thanks KiwiFlyer. Just realized I left out one piece of info that may be key: onward flight is on Air NZ, but it's on a different ticket, and in Y. Does that matter?

There is no business class on domestic. Strictly, you'd need it to be on one ticket. However I think you have a very good chance of making it in anyway (need to show the NRT-AKL boarding pass(es)).

Enjoy the flights and the lounge. When are you flying?

I have had mixed sucess with AirNZ in this regard. Flying BKK-AKL-WLG in biz, on 1 ticket, no problems on arrival and transfer to WLG, but was required to pay $NZ50 for excess baggage on return sector departure WLG to AKL (connecting to BKK) - I had 28kg - ie under biz allowance, but above the econ allowance. Checkin staff were unmoved by any discussion. I had guests in Y so didn't bother about trying lounge access.

Next trip I returned, there was no problem either way, but this utilised a separate tix (super saver fare) AKL-WLG-AKL - and I anticipated that this might cause more of a hassle. Gained access to KC both on arrival at AKL dom, and on departure WLG dom. YMMV!

Thanks for the feedback! Not flying until Feb (honeymoon, actually). I realized there's no biz in domestic - the connecting flight is either a Saab 340 or the Beechcraft, so I'll be happy if they don't just give us goggles and a silk scarf!
