Hello,

I am currently planning our honeymoon and am considering both properties for part of the trip. I've read through the numerous threads, but I'm wondering if someone can help with the following question(s). Is the Sheraton actually beachfront? Most of the photos show it facing/adjacent to the lagoon, and while it says there are "oceanview" rooms, there is not much much mentioned of the beach itself.

We are planning to stay for 5 nights before going to BKK and then SIN, so its' somewhat a short stay. Also, any first hand recent experiences or recommendations at either (I'm just a lowly gold level)?

TIA....Milind.

Most of the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket is surrounded by the lagoons. There's a portion of the property that is out on the beach. This map (http://www.lagunaphuket.com/hotels/sheraton/images/SGLP-resort-map-2003.jpg) should give you an idea of how it's laid out.

We stayed in the Golf Villas, which are nearby but actually off the hotel site. The Golf Villas and Golf Residences are privately owned homes in a development next to the golf course. They are managed by the Sheraton. Each two-story villa has a private lap pool and a sala overlooking the golf course. The villa has three bedrooms, den, 3 bathrooms, living room/dining room, and full kitchen. There is a car port, and the use of 4 mountain bikes is included. We loved the spaciousness and privacy of the villa. More info on the Golf Villas is here. (http://www.sheraton.phuket.com/golf-villas-residences.htm)

I am also an SPG Gold. Our reservation was for a Golf Villa, and it was mentioned a couple of times during check-in that as SPG Gold we were being upgraded to a nicer Golf Villa. I really was not sure what that meant, as all the Golf Villas were very similar, although there are two different floor plans.

I hope this info helps. I'm sorry that I don't have any info on the LM Phuket.

BTW, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Honestly, I'd say neither. The JW Marriott on Phuket is an incredible hotel. Check out the Marriott Forum for more info on it.
