Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Charger for ~50 bucks coupled with pathetic service

I wanted to try out the Charger (simply out of boredom) and since my preferred rental agency (National) doesn't have them, I was left with no option but to consider Hertz and Enterprise. Finally ended up with a steel grey colored Charger (no HEMI :( )from Enterprise simply because the lady at the Hertz Gold counter was asking too much for an upgrade to the Charger R/T from F class (had reserved a Camry).

However, I was really dissapointed by the shabby interior of the car and lack of any enthusiasm at Enterprise. The worst part was having to run around the entire car and spot any minute dings. I guess I'm gonna stay with National with Hertz as a back-up.

I'm not sure I would judge the Charger based on a rental car configuration - I've found them to not represent the "off the lot" experience much. The Mustangs (Avis) I used to get were pathetic but I've driven similar cars that belong to 'real people' and they were quite nice.

I think that is less true with the premium cars - the Jag Vanden Plas I got at SFO last year was just as nice as my father-in-laws car.

My favorite is still the $12/day Aztec (purple) from el-cheapo rentals in SFO.

Oh no, don't get me wrong. I wasn't trying to evaluate the car. I have driven the Hemi version of the Charger in the past and simply put, it's very good! Besides, this was the cheapest rate I could get for that day.

I'm just trying to vent out my anger due the appalling condition of the Enterprise rental lot at ATL. Is it the same all across the country or is it because National and Hertz (at ATL/LAX etc.) have raised the level of customer satisfaction a notch?

I have found Enterprise to be the least efficient of the major rental car companies. I only rent from them as a last resort. The last time I had a personal reservation with them, I waited in the FLL airport counter line and grew so frustrated that I walked over to another vendor, asked them what cars were available, checked the rates, and was headed to my car [it was a Charger by the way], and barely any progress was made in the nearby Enterprise line by the time I went to the car.

They had a good rate, so that's why I went with them, but I usually do Hertz and then Avis. The other vendor I got the Charger from was Dollar, and that was the first time I ever used them.

I now usually discourage my friends from using Enterprise based on consistent less than efficient experiences with them.

Uh oh, I thought the only cars that were available in Dollar's fleet were the Magnum and 300.

I really don't understand the people on this forum sometimes. Wouldn't you WANT to take a quick 15-30 second look at the car and note the damage on the rental agreement? I like that Enterprise walks me out to the car and assists me with the process.

I've also rented at the ATL Enterprise location and it isn't my favorite. The agent checking me in didn't hardly say two words to me and the only car they had to give me was a stratus. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Anyway, upon return they asked me for my rental agreement, which was the only time I was ever asked for that in my life. Good thing I had it in my briefcase.

I guess I'll never understand why people don't like Enterprise. My only complaint is that they don't have a loyalty program. But I save enough money with them that I don't care.

There is no problem with checking out the car. But going through the process with a person who forces the renter to feel the freakin' body curves for dents and scratches is just going too far.

About saving money, National and Hertz are actually cheaper than Enterprise for most of my rental needs except when I want to try out something like a Charger.

Now, did they really made you go through the process of feeling the "freakin'" body curves for dents and scrathes. Because I find that really really really hard to believe. I can just see it now... "I'm not going to rent you a car until you feel the car for dents and scratches"... yeah, like thats really gonna happen. I can see them walking around the car and point out damages and marking it down on the contract but as far as making you feel the body, riiiight. Enterprise has to be doing something right otherwise they wouldn't of ranked the highest in customer satisfaction among rental car companies with J.D. Powers two years in a row.

Also, why would you want to "try out" something like a Charger when you already drove one, you did say "I have driven the Hemi version of the Charger in the past and simply put, it's very good!" in a earlier post.

Well, I guess you might want to come over to ATL and check out their "customer service" yourself. I'm pretty sure you'd have the same opinion. I didn't mean that I had to feel the countours and such (am I in bed or what! :p ) but the agent's stern tone and his way of asking questions made me really wanna check every minute detail. I know people who've gotten their car's rear lights dinged/smashed and others who've gotten visible dents in the front/rear bumper but have never been asked a question during return at other agencies.

About renting the Charger, I was really bored with the regular Impala/Grand Prix/Lucerne etc. that's available at National and thus decided to rent a premium/luxury car for the day. I knew that Hertz offered Charger R/Ts and they were naturally my first choice but the lady kept asking for almost 50-60 bucks over my reserved quote for the Camry (YF class). After that, she offered a G35 for an extra 40 bucks. Since I was going to pay out of my pocket for this particular rental, I simply declined her offer and proceeded to the Enterprise counter.
