That guy who took a dump on the cart? Poser. The guy who tried to kick in the cockpit door? What an amateur.

No, my friends, if you want air rage, the Afghans have it down.

Careful, Tony.... The PC Police are running around here, pointing out "hate speech" (i.e. speech THEY don't want to hear, but are unable to challenge on fact).

I know that Islam is not a religion founded upon violence, but events like this will eventually convince many US hicks (like me) otherwise.

An angry mob murdered a government official because they were delayed in their pilgimage to MECCA? THE HOLY SITE of ISLAM? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

in the article linked by mdtony, it appears that there was some overbooking. it said that 1400 people had bookings or tickets for 2 planes! however, many afgans seem to be thin.

I don't see how anything I said could be construed as hate speech. A bunch of Afghans rioted and killed the minister of tourism because their flight was delayed. Calling that an extreme version of air rage that makes the guy taking a dump on the serving cart and the guy who tried to break into the cockpit look bush by comparison is the truth.

I think this is hilarious. I mean it is the biggest contradiction yet. So basically people on the journey to their holy land had delyaed flights so they went on a murder rampage??? Umm hmmmmm

I don't see why everyone is so surprised, most killings these days are over some "religious" thing. Israel/Palestine - both want to get the holy land. Bin Laden - killed Americans for "religious" reasons. Afgans killed to get to Mecca.

It's not the people that are the problem, it's religion.

Absolutely. Islam *is* a religion founded on violence. After all, remember how they marched out of Arabia attacking country after country until they finally stopped at the Pyrenees mountains? It outrages me that people get upset with the Spanish for driving the Moors out of Spain. They wouldn't have had to drive them out of Spain if the Moors hadn't invaded Spain in the first place! Now the Wahabbi branch of Islam advocates, literally, taking over the world. That's the problem. I have no objections to anyone practicing any religion they like, until they try to make *me* practice it as well. There are certainly Muslims who are moderates and who do not advocate the use of violence to spread their religion, but there is *undeniably* a very large number of them who *do* advocate the use of violence to spread their religion. To them all I say is: we have the right of self-defense and intend to use it. Nor will we wait until you attack us again. We have the right to act preemptively against you and we will.

I'm just wondering if silver/gold/f-class got the first crack at him or was this economy class cutting in line http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Apparently, it was not just a case of air rage. The Afghan prime minister himself says it was a pre-planned assassination by rival groups among the government officials. Too many warlords thriving and bloody politics being practiced in that country. Hope stability returns to the region.

I dunno.

From Karzai's perspective, it's better to blame this on opposition groups as an assassination instead of a random mob lynching, even if that's not true. The credibility of the Afghan government would take a big hit if a mob of civilians can kill a top minister like that. So better to blame it on an unknown conspiracy than to admit the truth.

I guess we'll wait and see, but I think it's quite plausible for this to be what it seems - a mob situation which grew into a lynching.

I think he's telling the truth. Why? Because he went to Saudi Arabia and asked them to arrest and return the people who he thinks killed the minister to Afghanistan and the Saudis agreed to do so. Now, unless he has some evidence to show that these guys were responsible, I don't think that he'd ask to have that done and I don't think that the Saudis would have agreed to do so.
