Is there an easy way to find the email address for a Starwood hotel general manager, or do I need to call the hotel and ask? I'd like to email the GM of the Westin Grand in Washington, DC regarding a stay last week. Thanks.

In my experience, if you want to really be heard, don't send an e-mail. The recipient tends to treat them casually as they are so easy to send.

Send a letter by fax instead. Shows it was important enough for you to take the time to write a real letter instead of two minutes to write and e-mail. They are taken more seriously.

My two cents.

Get the minutes of the most recent meeting of the local association of hotel managers, something like that. Usually online. Always works.
Even more complicated, ask the front desk when leaving, or the (wo-)man itself.

Anyway, Google will tell you (told me) in .37seconds that his name is Rich Casale. I leave you the joy of working out the Westin email ID protocol.

Starwood emails follow firstname.lastname@brand.com

The GM's name seems to appearing on more and more of my confirmations these days. Also as noted Google seems to work too.

I used the Google method at the Westin Tokyo and found the GM had moved from the Tokyo Westin to the Seoul Westin when I emailed him directly. Though the problem was solved, the outdated Google data added another level or bureaucracy.

Just some background if what you're looking to do by contacting the GM is to lodge a complaint.

I used to stay at the Westin Grand and the Westin Embassy Row at least once a month. Have never heard so many people complain about the service at these hotels, especially given that they're Westins. I don't think I ever lodged a complaint, but I'm sure there's no shortage of them. I imagine they are pretty thick skinned at this point.
