Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - OT-DXB to BAH/DOH

Advice nedded on lowest cost means to get from DXB to BAH (preferably) or DOH , if easier...round trip reqd....many thanks :)

Flying these routes is not cheap. In addition to the obvious choices (Emirates, Gulf Air, Qatar Airways), you might try:

-- Air Arabia from Sharjah (SHJ), a half-hour (depending on time of day) drive from DXB. They serve both DOH and BAH. Air Arabia is like the Southwest Airlines of Dubai.

-- Etihad from Abu Dhabi (AUH), about an hour drive from DXB (they also serve both DOH and BAH), but probably not much cheaper than the others.

-- Try the European airlines. For example, Lufthansa flies FRA-BAH-AUH. You can catch the tail-end of these, although they seem to have different combinations of stop-overs between BAH, DOH, DXB, and AUH on different days. I took British Airways on the last leg (and first leg on the return) of LHR-AUH-MCT, for only $228 or so. You'd have to research the myriad options and permutations.

Air Arabia is the best bet. SHJ and DXB are probably closer together than LHR/LGW. Sample dates for SHJ-BAH vv resulted in a $154.00 price tag.


If you fly a full service carrier you are probably looking at $300+ for DXB-BAH-DXB rt.

AUH-BAH will only set you back $200 USD on KLM. I think that might be the best option for full service.
