In this morning's Ding selection was Austin to Dulles for $68 to $108. I think this was the first time I've seen a Dulles Ding fare.

Yes! First one I've seen too. And it wasn't that great a fare ($69 to Orlando or somewhere else in Florida, I think)... but hey, at least it's a start.

Any way to determine if the Dulles-Chicago segments are flown by the same aircraft ? I might do a run to Chicago and back, but the connection time is too close (for the flights I prefer), and SW won't let me book a round trip. I'd do two one-ways if I knew the same plane was used going back.

I don't know for sure, but given the 25-30 minute turnarounds in each direction, it does appear that they are running just two planes back and forth between IAD and MDW all day.

Starting from IAD you have 459 to MDW, 1651 to IAD, 206 to MDW, 614 to IAD, 696 to MDW, 871 to IAD, and 1982 to MDW. Starting from MDW, you have 2203 to IAD, 2001 to MDW, 1558 to IAD, 516 to MDW, 986 to IAD, 1694 to MDW, and 1952 to IAD.

All of the aircraft which did IAD-MDW turned and did MDW-IAD except for 459 and 206.

FYI: The opposite is not true - if you fly MDW-IAD, IAD has a 25 minute minimum connection, so you can do a roundtrip that way...

Go to Travel Center at Southwest.com and check today's status of the flights that you suspect are the same aircraft. If they arrive at MDW and leave 25 minutes later from the same gate then it is the same aircraft. With online check-in, just get your return boarding pass before you leave Dulles, get off the plane and reboard. Only a slight chance if the first flight is very late getting into MDW that they would substitute another plane for the return. Still you might not want to do it on the last flight of the day. Book it as two one-ways no matter which flights you choose. Happy trails!

Round trip including taxes is $241. Using Nov 11, returning Nov 14 as my example, Continental was actually $2 less expensive.

Wow, they are really socking it to UAL. $39 between DEN-IAD, UAL's two hubs. ^ And roughly the same distance as PHX-IAD, but that only gives a Ding fare of $99.

I saw the DING fare between IAD & PHX. BUT no joy in Mudville on DEN/IAD. Is that a DING fare or maybe e-fare?

Please reply ASAP as I'd love to surprise my Dad in DEN.
