Jet passenger reportedly tries to open door in midair

POSTED: 10:44 p.m. EDT, September 12, 2006

CHANTILLY, Virginia (AP) -- A passenger tried to open the exit door of a jet during a cross-country flight on Tuesday night, airline and federal officials said.

United Airlines Flight 890 from Los Angeles landed as scheduled at Washington Dulles International Airport at 8:35 p.m., said Amy Kudwa, Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman. No one was injured.

Too bad a special door cant be built to give them a way out at 30,000+ feet so the rest of us can continue to our destination without delay!

I read an article about panic. The author claimed that you can be sure that on every flight there is at least one passenger who might give in to panic given the atmosphere at the airports and continual warnings on PA about being watchful. Once panic sets its diffcult to calm the person down. According to the author, a person in panic is the biggest threat to aviation. I tend to agree with it as even some of the crew fall prey to panic. I will search for the article and opost a link here.

I read an article about panic

Sort of a variation of "the only thing we have to fear..."

I suffer from claustrophia to the extent that I could at least imagine somebody irrationally wanting to "get out" out of a plane although for me it's noted in my preference for aisle seats.

I would be interested in reading the article you describe.

"the number one threat that has been overlooked in airline security/this danger comes from within and is posing a serious and real danger to the American nation and world population right now." = anxiety from "passing through all security measures"

Quack.
