I can't quite say I agree with their course of action but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Jane Garvey or Norm Mineta received a similar reception at any airport plagued with senseless security delays.

How is that hateful (seriously)? If a bunch of Baptists lynched an african american man on the way to Easter service, I'd say the same thing, especially if the Baptists had a spinmachine trying to convince the world they really aren't who they are.

To state it in a way the guy from "Momento" (a cool movie, BTW) could figure out:

1. Muslims (men, because women are treated like cattle in their world-view)

2. On the haj, a sacred religious pilgrimage (one of the 5 pillars of Islam which every good Muslim should strive to do)

3. Go on a rage, MURDERING a man (presumably because they couldn't get to their RELIGIOUS event quick enough

4. Which is (by any construction of the words) VIOLENT, against the "peacefulness" they proclaim that their religion represents to the "We are the world" types in the West.

5. And to tie it all back to Flyertalk, it was aviation-related. We civilized folks in the West simply don't act that way. End of rant. You can pretend that they aren't psychopaths until the day they blow up YOUR office building or kill a friend.

The "truth" is that Timothy McVeigh and the Olympic bomber were home-grown, "red-blooded" Americans. But to accuse all white males of being angry sociopaths would be ridiculous, right???

Islam may preach peace, but it's quite obvious that not everyone who believe in Islam practice that particular exhortation of their religion. Some Muslims can be downright violent and homocidal.

FWIW, this has now been labeled a "conspiracy" and the word is that several high ranking officials are now being sought and will be arrested and prosecuted!

Yes it would be ridiculous, and it is out of line to suggest that all muslims are terrorists.

The biggest difference I can see was the near total condemnation of the actions of Timothy McVeigh. Did you see other white males make excuses for McVeigh, or dance in the streets in celebration of his actions? No, you saw them go out and find him, arrest him, try him, convict him, and put him to death for his actions!

The muslim community has not spoken with one voice to condemn the actions of Osama Bin Laden. In fact there have been more apologists and excuse makers trying to place some of the blame on America! Had the global Muslim community spoken out on 9/12 to condemn the actions of Osama Bin Laden, and helped to find him and resolve the matter, we wouldn't have this discussion.

I think we can all agree that there are many millions of non-violent, peace-loving Muslims all around the world.

Still, have to wonder why Islam is the religion suddenly embraced by so many Americans who are in PRISON after having been convicted of violent offenses.

No need to fill out any complaint forms (in triplicate no less) or call customer service or any other such nonsense. If you got a problem, just kill the guy.

I think the problem here is that Afghanistan is still a primitive and backward country, regardless of its religious affliation. The people there are used to solving problems by violence and vigilante action. It's something important for us to remember when we deal with them. This is also why I think we are only half-way done with Afghanistan: we must invest in reforming their education system there.

Won't investing in their education system be similar to investing in our own? Just keep shovelling money down a hole while the liberal elite cry "more funding, smaller class size" ad nauseum?

The government schools here in the city of Akron currently spend 3 TIMES the state average ($6000 per student/per year vs $2000 per student/per year) and are still among the worst government schools in the state. If we can't invest in our own education system, how can we hope to invest in theirs!?!?!?

Just another example of the abuses perpetrated by right-handed men with two syllables in their last names.

This is a group we've neglected for too long. First McVeigh, now this. Where's the press on this one?

It appears now that in fact, this was a planned murder by rival members of the Afgan government. So perhaps we can turn down the accusations a little?
