Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - Seating on SAA 747-400

I'm using miles to fly F Class LHR-JNB South African Airways. Travelling with my wife, and we were assigned seats 3D&G in a 744. Seatguru has these seats marked as yellow due to "proximity to galley". Has anybody flown first class on SAA in these seats--- is it worth the 100,000 miles per ticket?? Are the seats really bad?

Why take a chance?
Call SAA and ask for 2D&G.

...Seatguru has these seats marked as yellow due to "proximity to galley"...Seatguru has a lot of 'boilerplate' yellow seats and language (proximity to lavs, galleys, bulkheads, whatnot), often with not relation whatsoever to reality (thank goodness, as some of the best seats can be 'yellow' ;)).

If you really are concerned, call SA and see if there are other seats available...

I have never noticed galley noise in those seats. I agree with WindFlyer that this is lazy, untested assumption by Seatguru. I prefer 3D/G to 2D/G myself. But that is based on my preference to be near the loo and the slightly wider aisle at that point. 2D/G would give you slightly less traffic in the aisle, though.

With 10 or 11 seats in First depending on equipment used. Yes its worth more than 100 000 miles their seats are fantastic, their long and wide and great and the Ottoman is legend.

Um yeah I wouldnt be bothered about it at all, but on check in just ask for 2 D & G. I have flown in 3A a few times no worires about it, fall asleep quickly and have to be woken at the other end.
