If I could write a book about what happend to me the past ten days...

But I will make it quick. I just got back from a cut short 10 day trip from ADD-NBO-JRO-ZNZ.

LH loses the luggage upon arrival into ADD. There was not one person from LH there at ADD (handled by ET). We are told that the luggage will be on another flight via Rome. Nothing comes in.

The next day, we are told the baggage is in Frankfurt. I inform them to send the luggage to JRO since I could get someone to forward the luggage to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Nothing.

We get to Zanzibar and my wife has had it with not having her toiletries. We call LH and find out the luggage is now in ADD. I ask to have the bags sent back to Chicago and were told that Ethiopian law requires the passenger come and claim the baggage. (WHAT?!?!?!) Finally the LH office in Addis (after TWELVE HOURS and $700 in telephone calls) sends someone to take care of the bags. We are told that they would come into ORD at 10:30am today - UA codeshare.

Friday the 1st of September was the final straw, we cut short our trip and frantically found two C class seats on BA via NBO. We had to get a Kenya Airlines flight from ZNZ (Zanizbar) to NBO.

I booked the tickets with American Express travel and was told to pick up and pay for the tickets at the Kenya Airways office in Stone Town, Zanzibar. We get there and were told they don't accept credit cards - and there was an ATM five minutes away! I told them there was no way I could get $5000 from an ATM. Solution: $400 for the two KQ tickets to NBO.

Ready for this? We get to the ZNZ Airport and we had to openly pay off every single person who worked for either KQ or the airport. This was to expidite the issuing of the tickets $20.00, to check-in (you want two aisles? I need something to make that happen) to "the x-ray machine is not working, if you don't give me anything, I will have to open all your luggage," $10.00.

I got on the airplane and couldn't BELIEVE what had just happened. I was SO sad to have that taste in our mouths leaving ZNZ.

We arrived this morning (3rd of September) and waited for THREE more hours as the flights came in from Germany, and nothing. The computer system should nothing at all either.

Thank you for listening.
