Budget Travel - Where is the best spot for exchanging RMB to USD in HK? [combined thread]

Current RMBtoUSD exchange rate on Nathan road in HK

At the Nathan Road money exchangers (close to Mirrador and Chungching Mansions) in HK, what is the average current RMB-USD exchange rate?

On xe.com, it is almost 8RMB to the USD.

Is anyone on location that can give me a quote?

The rate is around 1 HK = 1.065 RMB around TST right now.

Here is a tip for those of you who are changing a good amount of money in Hong Kong;

Go to 'Berlin Money Changers' - its located in an obscure office building in Central. It is not a retail money changer, but its the place that the money changing places go. However, they do accept walk-ins if your changing a somewhat significant amount i.e. more than US$1000 or more. Their tel: 25253620.

If you have a company in Hong Kong and regularly change money, they will set up a company account for you and have a service where you can pre-order foreign currency and have it delivered to you by a guy on a Harley. Class.

avoid it.. go to Shenzhen and use an ATM there. Find a Citibank or Bank of China.. that's where my BofAmerica card worked.

Where is the best spot for exchanging RMB to USD in HK?

I found a place at the back of Mirrador Mansion selling HKD for 1.03RMB (and that's almost market rate). They claim they take no commission, but if you look at their USD selling rate for RMB, it's obvious they ARE taking a commission at 7.7 (or 7.3), can't remember which.

Anyways, where have YOU found USD selling for 7.9 or even 8RMB for the dollar?

has anyone found a place that sells USD for close to 8RMB to the dollar? I have over 20,000RMB to change and don't wanna get dinged, please help with a place if you know it.
