Hilton HHonors - HGI Seacaucus and other non-Manhattan properties good for visiting NYC

My parents are going to NYC in November and so the wife and going up for the two nights they are there. Hotels are looking pricey (my previous trips to NYC have always been with my parents so they've paid) and at the moment since I have no job we'll only stay one of the two nights in Manhattan, probably the Millenium since most of the Midtown places are sold out :(

I've been to NYC a number of times but never stayed off Manhattan so am unsure about the various HH properties in NJ, Queens/Brooklyn...

One of the places that seems a good location is the HGI in Secaucus, NJ. Says it has a 15min bus trip to Times Sq. which doesn't sound too bad.

Was wondering if other people travelling to New York City have done the same as us and can recommend places to stay. We are flying to and from LGA but am not too fussed about the Secaucus HGI since it seems to be fairly close to Manhattan. Am not really fussed about what is around the hotel itself since we'll be spending all our time on Manhattan.

Thanks

The Homewood Suites in Edgewater is a fairly new property and is close to NYC. It's about 1/2 mile from the NY Waterways ferry stop to midtown E.39th St. $6 for a 8 minute trip isn't bad either. The property has a free shuttle that stops there as well. It might be worth considering

Thanks, I've just cancelled my reservations for the HGI Seacaucus and swapped it for the HS Edgewater. All in all was about the same price as the HGI so I'm happy. Also good news about the ferry ^

Seems as if Google Maps wasn't sure where the HGI I spoke about was, it came up with two places. One of which that seems to be the actual location is further away than I'd like to be.
