Hi,
I have a number of coach to business class (or business to first class if on Acela) upgrade coupons. I tried to use one today on the Northeast Regional but the ticket agent said I couldn't because I already had a discounted ticket (true, as I had used code H571 to get a 20% discount on my ticket). I realize that maybe its a lot to ask for a business class upgrade when you already have a 20%+ discounted ticket but there is NOTHING on the upgrade certificate to indicate you cannot upgrade to business if your ticket is discounted in any way. One thing the ticket does say is that it cannot be done more than one hour prior to departure, which makes sense because they are giving these upgrades on a space-available basis only. I thought that as long as the space is available in business one hour or less before departure, you can get upgraded. Can anyone else tell me what experience they've had with this?
