Hertz - Does Hertz have a price match policy?

I need to rent a car over a weekend (at an airport) & I have a Hertz gift certificate that I want to use (so, I can't use Priceline or Hotwire or a 3rd party travel agent).

Hertz.com rates are more expensive than any other online rate that I found from other rental companies. Has anyone got Hertz to price match other online rates? I called Hertz.com a couple times & the agents refused to do any price-matching.

Any good coupon codes on a weekend rental also will be helpful? Thanks.

I found a AAA special that was comparable to the lowest online price. I guess I'll just stick with it.

At one point a HLE in Toronto did price match for me. They were always about $15 more than anyone else. Luckily for me a) I knew the supervisor and showed her the printouts from the other agencies b) I was a PC and c) I had been told by several folks that I was the top HLE renter at this location... they matched.

After a crappy experience at LAS & having 2 more rentals booked in coming weeks - I called the station manager & informed him that National (one of my company's other preferred providers) had a rate that 100 bucks less than the Hertz rate. He agreed to do a match for both my next LAS rentals. Of course, at pick-up, the rate was about 250.00 more than what it should have been - but they resolved it with a couple of phone calls.

Hertz: 1 week at $417 + taxes = $538 USD

Avis: 1 week at $158 + taxes = $235 USD
National 1 week at $259 + taxes = $355 USD

Will Hertz Match the price based on email screen shot or do I actually have to walk up to the counter on arrival to negogiate?

Would love to continue to rent from Hertz but if they are going to make me line up instead of using Gold Status, I will just go Avis Preferred and save time for the vacation.

Yes, they do price match unless they are already have restrictions in place (e.g. Nearing sell out status) or unless the difference is more than 30%. You have to call them to have them do it.
