Air France Frequence Plus - Film showing CDG T1 from 32 years ago. Nothing has changed

I was watching La Gifle (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071550/) on TV5Monde which was made in 1974. Everything was outdated in that film. The cars, trains, clothes, hairstyles, etc. However the scenes from CDG T1 looked EXACTLY the same as today. The signage, furniture, etc. is still the same today, 32 years later. But what struck me the most was the little twinkling sound the loudspeakers make before a flight announcement. That too is exactly the same as today.
In short, neither the French government nor ADP have spent a single unnecessary dime at this terminal in all these years. :(

Unless I am mistaken, one fourth of CDG1 has already been renovated, with an additional one fourth coming each year, at the end of 2006, 2007 and 2008.

I love that one :) , much more than the new one. Too bad I mostly travel through CDG2.

I would love to have that as my cell phone ring tone.
JOUY31 - does your incomporable knowledge of AF extend to whether/how this is possible ???
Count me as another fan of that melodious sound. That is distinctly CDG1. Also another movie that has a good background of CDG1 is "Until September" with Thierry Lhermitte (much younger and looking his best) filmed in 1984. Karen Allen plays an unsophisticated American girl who falls in love with a French banker. At the opening of the film Karen is all over CDG1 trying to catch a plane that she misses and then is forced to spend the night in Paris.

Perhaps it can be found here :

The ads in the moving sideawalk tunnels between the pods and the main terminal used to be flat paper ads encased in plexiglass bubbles to look as if they were futuristic TV screens. Those were replaced by more contemporary-looking flat panels of picture frames suspended on cable systems. That's the only change I can remember--but,as I only fly AF, KL and NW, I haven't been to CDG1 since KL and NW moved to CDG2.

Oh, and I really LOVED Terminal 1, apart from the alarming scarcity of ATMs. I hope to love T2 someday--parts of it are quite beautiful--but I doubt I will until the gate shortage problem is sorted.

No one has ever had to "force" me to spend the night in Paris!

For a good look at CDG2 and the Hilton CDG, you can also watch "Décalage horaire" with Juliette Binoche & Jean Reno :) .
I do love the previous CDG chimes, but listening to the old ORY chimes brings back so many childhood memories, of the time when going up to the terraces at the only terminal at the time, Orly Sud, to watch aircrafts taking off or landing, was a pleasurable family outing for many Parisians. ;)

You are certainly right on the money. Otherwise known as "Jet Lag" in English, an enjoyable movie with a happy ending. I stayed at the Hilton in a room with a nice view of the Concorde in the background. Hotel is conveniently located next to the RER station and I noticed that there is also an IBIS right at the entrace of the station for those looking for more economical arrangements. I remember the toiletries being creatively packed in test tubes which was a refreshing change from the norm.
About Orly Nostalgy, those of you who can read French may appreciate La Boite Noire, a novel (1974) by the Swiss writer Jean-Luc Benoziglio taking place nearly entirely in Orly, while the main character is waiting for his delayed flight to Athens. A funny, very pleasant book.
The paperback edition (Points Seuil R538) is out of print but can be found here and there (PriceMinister.com); the hardback edition seems to be available from bookshops (Ed. Seuil "Fictions et cie").

Thank you thank you JOUY! I was looking for that as well. I love CDG1. I think it represents the futuristic feel and optimism of jet travel in its infancy. I look forward seeing how it will look post renovations. I hope they preserve the spirit of the original design.
