any recent stays, recommendations for st louis missouri area. Have conference @ Embassy Suites St Charles (or the center there, not sure) but the best "bargain" can find is $129/night.
Any codes etc one may have. Is it worth the $129 (cleanliness, location to activities, amenities, etc etc). Hampton Inn fairly close, about $90.

The Hampton Inn is right alongside the freeway and is the typical setup. Nothing nearby as it sits on the frontage road along I-70. If you're looking to save money this hotel will wrok, but there is nothing around the property. The Doubletree is located in Westport about 15 mins away from the Embassy Suites. That hotel is usualy crowded with conventions and meetings. Room are large and clean. Several places to eat in the area. Your best bet is the Embassy Suites in my opinion. It's also close to downtown St. Charles where you can walk along the river and visit unique shops, craft stores, etc. Also close to the casinos along the river if that interests you. Have fun!

I was in St. Louis for about 8 weeks and stayed at the ES St Louis Airport, Hampton St. Louis/Westport and the Doubletree Westport. I didn't particularly care for the ES but it was fine. The Hampton had friendly staff but was just a Hampton. The Doubletree had great staff (They are a converted Holiday Inn from last October) and the rooms were nice. I had tried to stay at the St. Charles ES but it was always at least $159 per night so never stayed there. The thing I liked about the double tree is they had a double base points usually for $129 or $139 that I did on numerous occasions so that made it worth it to me.
Also on Wednesday nights they do a Managers reception where some employees sit down with you and chat about everything either about your stay, your other stay experiences or what you had for dinner last night. They are very friendly and personable and based on that and their double points promos that was my top place to stay as long as it was under $140.

I recieved a mailer a few weeks ago that states you can earn double HHonors Base points and double AA miles if you mention rate code "H7" good at Hilton STL Airport, Hilton STL @ Ballpark, Doubletree STL Westport, and Hampton STL @ Forest Park, MO.

if you will have a car, the Hampton Inn will work just fine so save the $30. There is an extrordinary amount of excellent restaurants within a five mile radius, along with the mentioned Old Town St. Charles (great for antiques and nic-nac shps) as well as the Mid Rivers Shopping Mall. Whatever you want, you will be able to find it!

Nice property. Friendly staff. Did a one-night award stay. Room standard DT. Decent breakfast buffet. Had a small maintenance issue with the room's toilet (wouldn't flush); maintenance guy was there within 90 seconds and fixed it quickly. Free high-speed. Rates are good on weekends.
2. STL Hampton Inn Florissant/I270
Second night of this weekend for Diamond re-qualification. Standard Hampton. In a bit of a sketchy part of town north of the airport. Quick trip to the airport. Excellent staff; room ready with Diamond amenity. Breakfast standard.

I live in Saint Louis....The Embassy Suites in Saint Charles is brand new. Its a really nice place. Its close to Old Town Saint Charles (which has a good assortment of food, little shops to visit) Close to the Saint Charles Casino(which has a good buffet) I have stayed there a few times due to having a few to many drinks at Wilikers(which is close on Highway 94)
I would choose Embassy Suites over the hampton by the airport, its in "ok" area....But since I live here, I tend to have my favorite locations.
From the airport to the hotel is a rather easy drive (70 west) (before 4pm on weekdays) traffic gets a little crowded but its nothing like Dallas or Atlanta. From the hotel to downtown STL is about 25-30 minutes (70 East)
Let me put it this way, if you were my friend, I would say stay at the Embassy Suites. ^

Westport is a little old, I imagine they have started some upgrading. Its a little tricky to get to.
Hampton Inn in Florissant is not bad. Its right next to the freeway and easy to spot. Quick from the airport 70east to 170 north to 270 west. (about 5 miles total) A few places to eat but you have to hunt for them. If you like wings head up to Mattingly's on Lindbergh. Been there for years..
Hope that helps...

I have been going to STL for the last 6 months now. I prefer ES St charles( it can be empty or packed since it is attached to the convention center) . I have done the ES airport and it is ok, not much near by at either ES. You have to drive 5 minutes or so. I also do the Sheraton westport, and it is old( great loaction).

Thanks. Ending up staying there a night in April. Standard Hampton Inn. Very accommodating staff. Diamond recognition. Decent breakfast. Area is a little skeevy and it's not anywhere I'd want to walk at night.
But for a 10,000 point reward night it was just fine :)
