Some basic questions I thought I'd ask here instead of calling F9 directly...

How good (or bad) is domestic availability when trying to book an award seat?
Can you fly an open-jaw routing (i.e. DEN-BNA, ATL-DEN)?

Availability is very good. You should have a choice of flights on the days you wish to travel, unless it's a major holiday. Even then, you may have a limited choice of flights. I am advised that open jaws are not permitted. There is no ticketing fee for award travel. All award seats come out of "s" bucket if you want to precheck availability before calling.

Thank you for your feedback.

I contacted F9 and open jaws are permitted. Phew!

Similar question here... How hard is it to redeem miles to Alaska or Mexico (limited, capacity controlled)?

I have a lot of Frontier miles but no status. I wouldn't mind using 30-45k miles for a non-capacity controlled seat, but found out that it's only available to Ascent & Summit members.

I have redeemed tickets to Mexico (I'm Ascent) and my wife redeemed tickets to ANC (no status) and we got the flights/times we wanted...no problems!

if you live in Denver it is good. If you are anywhere else F9 often blacks out the most desirable flights for leisure travel (i.e., after work flights). i checked LGA to DEN any day on the 5:35 pm flight and there was no availability EVER. The agent said there was a glitch in the system, but we know better!

Have you tried calling again?

Availability can be limited based on loads. Unfortunately for you, there are only two flights in/out of LGA. Even flying non-rev to NYC is a nightmare!
