I was informed (by a friend) that Gulf Air officials passed through Brisbane recently and showed interest in commencing services here. Somehow I doubt this will proceed though, as I doubt they'd be given the rights

I lived in BNE up till last year and still used GF extensively. GF would absorb the J class fare BNE-SYD-BNE fully in order for me to connect. I also received full points and status credits for those flights on my QF FF account-bargain! :D
Perhaps something you may wish to consider.
With regard to the fully FLAT 2-2-2 QF take note. Paying premium for a J class middle seat will always be criminal as far as I'm concerned, esp for a carrier of QF's calibre...EK does it too and still get all the hype..go figure
Cheers CJ

Hi Cedar Jet,
We're eagerly awaiting your report of the limo service and the flights from SYD!
Did you transit through a BAH hotel this time?
I wonder if a FTer will win GF's 1 million miles promo? :D

wow, that's not much of a difference between business and first fares!
and GF has on demand dining in business right? that's really impressive.
I wonder why QR was #5 and GF #6 in Skytrax F ranking considering those awards, especially Skytrax "best catering..."
Hi GFers,
(slightly OT) Has anyone successfully booked the DUB-BKK fare (with GF sectors in F as an A class fare) mentioned elsewhere in FT?
Despite the posts (and inexperience perhaps), I've not found the fare that is mentioned, only a Y level fare or a much higher F fare.
Sorry this is OT, but I was hoping to get as far as BKK or similar then buy the remaining sectors to SYD with miles, at least in J, to get the Limo service home, so kindly brought up by CJ
It was fun to try to get it, anyway! Hope to meet some of you in BAH or SYD lounges some time :)
Cheers ^
[Nag] CJ, where's your rave review & piccies? ;)

I hate to dissapooint you but GF have no plans to upgrade the 5 Version B A340s to the new flat beds. Version B operates to BKK/JKT/HKG/KUL. The only Asian city getting the Version A A340's (there are 4 of these aircraft in total and all have been refurbished) is SIN as the stopover point ebnroute SYD.

Cheaptickets pulled it in the early hours of Saturday morning, is still in the system though just can't get anyone to ticket it now.
Did anyone manage to get it to ticket for SYD? Could get MNL, BKK, KUL and HKG but could'nt get SIN or SYD to ticket.

Very impressive. Now if they'd do a deal for a RTW fare like EK/UA, I'd consider switching over...

That's fine - I have flown First on this route before - the old F seats are perfectly fine as long as you avoid row 1 which has somewhat limited leg room - it's the shortest leg as well. Thanks for the update.
There was a really good section on Gulf Air last night, on the Australian TV Travel show, The Great Outdoors (CH7). It lasted quite some time and showed alot of footage of the interior of the A343 (the presenter was onboard a flight [SIN-SYD maybe] and was following a Mother with her 2 kids). I was impressed with the SkyNanny service GF offer! Anyway, here's the article on Gulf Air (http://au.travel.yahoo.com/great-outdoors/bahrain/gulf-air-sky-nanny-bahrain.html)
Wish GF flew to Brisbane :(
