Credit Card Programs - The end of the 5% cash back card?

There's a thread (http://www.fatwallet.com/t/52/644682/) over on FatWallet suggesting that Citi is dropping the 5% cash back on gas, groceries and pharmacy purchases to 2% on the Dividend Platinum Select. It also says the Chase will be doing the same with their 5% card. You have to wonder if that will spell the end of the (true) 5% cash credit card.

Hmmmm.... Citicards.com has a message saying its under going website maintenance tonight and the Dividend card was missing all day from the site. All of the TY cards were there... tune in tomorrow.

Customer Service said that they are changing the terms over the next year to 2% cash back on select categories. The categories will increase to include some utilities and convenience stores. However the changes will be rolled out over the next year, i.e. some accouts will be affected sooner than others.

2% with an annual cap of $300 does not appeal to me. When the 5% Cashback ends on Citi and Chase Cards, I'm done with them.
