Hello Fellow FTers!

I'm doing East Africa next week and on the last part of it, I was scheduled to go from ZNZ (Zanzibar) - JNB - LHR (the second evening flight).

I called SAA in New York and got one of the rudest sales associates in my life. I am one of the nicest guys you'd ever come across and this woman was just nasty. She talked very fast and couldn't understand her. Finally, I asked her about my seat assignment for the ZNZ-JNB portion she gave me a seat number that didn't correspond with the seat map of the type of aircraft used. She told me the seat was in coach and the aircraft type was a 757.

When I said to her, "I don't think the 757 is part of SAA's fleet," SHE HUNG UP ON ME...

So, I turn to my fellow FTers to help me.

Where did this 757 come from?
When I go on the website for SAA there's no longer a ZNZ-JNB routing for me to check.
I was told that the entire cabin is all coach. That's not what I paid for (via United, but not understanding the various codes, that's exactly what that portion is booked in, coach).
If I were to leave out of DAR-JNB, I would have to purchase a one way first class ticket for almost USD$1,070. They fly a 737 or A319 on that route. My question is whether SAA's smaller planes in 1st are any good and if it's worth it.

Help me please!

My question is whether SAA's smaller planes in 1st are any good and if it's worth it.No 1st class on SAA's smaller planes, business class is available on most routes, though.

on some short routes/smaller planes, it is all economy class, with silver status and higher allowed to sit in the front (old business class section)

SAA 187 is an Airbus 319, not a smaller aircraft, and it has the 2x3 biz. cabin in front.

SAA 187 is an Airbus 319, not a smaller aircraft, It is smaller than all other aircraft types operated by SA.
