I've been saving HH points for 6 years literally. I now have a few hundred thousand miles and when I went to see how I could use them - I'M SHOCKED!

No more African Safari?
No Airline Awards in business or first class (not sure if there ever were)

So what do I do now? Just use the miles for hotel stays?

I'm interested in South Africa or A hut over blue green water somewhere in the South Pacific.

Why are you shocked? The Safari disappearing is very old news. Why would you want to use your "points" for airline travel?

There are a lot of great properties that belong to HHonors. You can even go all inclusive in Dominican Republic if you want. I still don't understand your title.

There have been a handful of threads on the topic of the Safari within the last 6 months, including at least one thread with the details of it going away, etc.

Sorry you can't do the safari, but there are a lot of nice places you can use them at. If not, perhaps you can trade them to someone on CC for a safari (if any other program offers it) or for airline awards.

I'm sorry, but if you were so determined to save your miles, than you should have been more observant with the HH program.

Indeed one of the benefits of FT is keeping more informed about these kind of changes.

As for over the water Hiltons in the South Pacific, only one I can think of is at Auckland. Possibly not what you had in mind?

With the exception of the South Pacificm you have lots and lots of options to use your points, including at least one in a "hut" over water.

Depending upon your interests consider:

* The Caribbean: Barbados, Curacao, Tobago and several (some all-inclusive) resorts in the Dominican Republic

* Hawaii: Several resorts

* Egypt: at least 10 resorts

* Indian Ocean: Maldives (with Hut over water)

* Seychelles

I wish that I had your problem

So what do I do now? Just use the miles for hotel stays? Um... yes. It's a hotel program.

They all disappeared some time ago! I was sorry to see many of the reward options go. However, I enjoy using the points to stay in hotels on vacation.

im not sure about airline seat redemption but im pretty sure you can redeem points for shopping vouchers besides hotels, i did remember seeing a redemption for some David Jones vouchers, a shopping centre in australia. You can go to coupon connection and do a trade for airline miles if that helps....

i can fully feel your pain.. ;) ..

What probably stings the OP is the he/she probably earned the points the hard way, unlike some of us who did multiple Stay 4 times, get 50k bonus points (or 100k bnus if dne right).

With a few hundred k points available, the new going global awards (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=560721&highlight=GLON) might be of interest.

Some of us preferred the old, old "Going Global" awards, in effect until about three years ago, over the more recent versions. Only 100,000 points for six nights! Those were the days! :p

Anyhow, not sure why the OP is so bummed about "only" using points for hotel stays. They are a lifesaver when staying in expensive places! ^
