Budget Travel - LCCs & airline reservation systems

Simple question really.

Why do most EU-based LCCs (no idea about US) not appear on reservation systems like SABRE or Galileo?

For example - if you search for a LTN-CDG flight, you won't see the Easyjet flights on Travelocity.

Cutting corners (my guess) or...?

Yep. Don't want to pay the charges imposed by those booking systems.

I am not an expert here but it was my understanding that the legacy carriers fronted the money for the reservations systems and they don't support the LCC's because they are eating their lunch.

No, that's not how it is. Airlines have to pay to be "in the system", and most LCCs have chosen not to pay. Ryanair used to be in the system but came out about five years ago (my first-ever Ryanair flight was booked by travel agent)
