Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - No more pick-your-own?

I've been renting cars from the PHX for the past couple of months, and I've always had the opportunity to just pick a car from the "midsize" aisle. "Midsize" has turned out to be anything from a Sentra to a Ford F-150. Today, however, I was assigned an HHR in a stall--the car class signs (midsize, compact, etc.) were replaced by letters.

Is Alamo changing its ways?

We were in Phoenix on Aug. 4th....and we were still able to "pick our own" in the midsize aisle. If they changed things; it was just in the last week or so.

I think it may have been a Tuesday thing... it went back to pick-your-own when I returned the following Monday.
