Breaking news is that the airplane had landed at LAX and passengers and crew have been evacuated. The bomb squad is now on board.

The package was found half hour prior to landing and then the plane taxied to a remote part of the airport where authorities are investigating.

LOS ANGELES -- Police evacuated an Alaska Airlines flight Monday after a "suspicious item" was found on board that no one claimed, Los Angeles International Airport officials said.

Bomb-sniffing dogs later determined the item did not contain explosives, airport spokesman Harold Johnson said.
