MilesBuzz! - Do any rental car companies match elite status?

So I'm the author of the Status Match Master Thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9558) and the Hotel Status Match Master Thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=517330).

Naturally I'd be interested in this question: do any car rental companies offer status matches?

There's a long-running thread on Sixt Instant Status (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=445388), started by Dovster. That mentions showing airline elite credentials and being granted an elite level with that chain.

What I'm curious about, and I admit a North American-centric outlook here, is whether Hertz/Avis/National/etc offer to comp elite status based on status with another major chain.

Example, I'm currently an Avis Chairman's member, would Hertz or National offer some uber top ultra status in order to woo my business?

Any knowledge here appreciated.

The last poster outdated my comments (which i was going to make)

I was going to say that the rental car companies which used to charge to sign up for their frequent renters club have been that status for nada just by signing up on their web sites, among them national (emerald club) and avis.

but the poster made clear the question is about status within those clubs

Thanks for those links, UpgradeMe. Folks in those threads did not have success getting either Hertz or National to match status within their programs.

Anyone with different experience, or with experience with other rental car companies?

Airlines match regularly (at least in the US), hotels match regularly, I'd have hoped rental car companies would do the same. Hmmph.

I asked for a status match when I switched to Hertz from Avis. They would not give me PC, but they did give me 5* right away. I showed them my rental history and the change happened within a day or two.

Avis matches too! At least that's what they told me when I called.

Isn't the Chairman's level an invite-only level? If so, I doubt that in and of itself is going to get you invited into the uber-elite levels of the other majors.

But...whatever the underlying reason is that earned you Chairman's might also apply to the other two, so maybe you have a shot on that alone. Each company has slightly different processes by which they invite members to the special non-publicly-advertised levels.

I do not now nor expect in the future to be "invited" to the urber-elite levels of any auto program but what a great learning experience for me just observing you real road-warriors reviewing these matters.
Thanks ;)
