Budget Travel - Thrifty Oktoberfest - Munich Accomodations Advice - Sept 22 - 25

Hello,

My roomate and I are going to be in Munich for Oktoberfest from Sept 22 - Sept 25. We live in Atlanta. It will be a bender of a weekend.

We are fishing for a hotel that is near the Oktoberfest or worst case scenario on a trainline that can get us to Oktoberfest.

For downtown Munich, it seems that the cheapest a midrange hotel is going for is $280 a night. Does anyone have advice on where we can find a site that has cheaper accomodations than those we have seen from our internet queries? Our minimum requirements are that there are 2 beds, a working bathroom, and a safe place to leave a laptop computer while out for the day. Should we even consider hostels an option?

Thanks for your help in advance.

It is waaaay late to be trying to find a hotel in Munich, esp. budget. You might try the 'am Markt' - sometimes I've known people to have luck there. Keep searching - maybe you can find a cancellation. Otherwise, look at train schedules & decide how far you want to travel to get into the City. There used to be a Tent City for students, but I don't know if that's around anymore. Viel Glück! It will be worth it if you find something!

Congratulations! I'm pleased you found somewhere at such a late hour... however, $107 per night is not exactly 'budget', even if it is a good rate for a Marriott.
