My girlfriend and I are looking to spend at least two months in whistler from the beginning of January 2007. (Longer if i can twist her arm). Planning not to work just board and hang out. Its gotta be done on the cheap, willing to share accom to make it work. Any suggestions on sorting this? ie: wait till we get there or is this asking for a massive headache?
Cheers.

There is a YHA Hostel at Whistler.

Although I have not stayed there I have had positive experiences staying at several Hostels in British Columbia (they are all operated by the same organization).
I think I would definitely book a few nights so you have some place to stay upon arrival. I have heard that even the workers in the hospitality industry at Whistler have a heck of a time finding reasonably price long term accomodation. I think many people live in small towns near Whistler and commute.
Enjoy your trip.

I second that HI hostels are likely to give you positive experience.
I stayed in HI hostel downtown Vancouver last week. Was my first experience using a hostel and glad I did! ^
