California - Del Mar restaurants

Would welcome suggestions: am staying downtown. Thank you

Jake's. There are other locations, in California and Hawaii I believe. Its right on the beach, well done. Don't go next door to the Poseidon.

I also enjoy Epazote, though rumor has it that Epazote will be changing formats and going all steak. If true, i doubt it will have happened by the time your there.

If you are staying in Del Mar, California, the only downtown hotel is L'Auberge. It has a nice restaurant, J Taylor (http://www.laubergedelmar.com/dining.htm). Immediately across the street to the east is the Del Mar Plaza. Fornaios is good; Pacifica Del Mar is not as good as it used to be.

To the south side of L'Auberge is Sbiccas (http://www.sbiccabistro.com/). It has an imaginative menu, with locally grown ingredients. I like to sit on the rooftop where you get a view of the ocean.

L'Auberge is a beautiful hotel, and Del Mar is a charming village. It is very walkable, to restaurants, shops, and the beach. Enjoy!
