Does anyone know if this will happen anytime soon ? I thought CX also did a YYZ-YVR-HKG. Or was it always via ANC ? Thanks.

It depends on the direction and the season. They do it direct when the wind is in the right direction, otherwise with a fuel stop in ANC (can't get on or off). The via YVR was a temporary measure until the US paranoia subsided a little.

CX has discontinued the east bound HKG/YYZ seasonal (winter months) nonstop service for several years. The westbound YYZ/HKG always make a tech stop at ANC but now both directions make tech stop at ANC.

CX will do YYZ nonstop to/from HKG only when the A346 replaces the current A34Ds next summer. The A346s will be taken off the NYC routes and replaced with the new B773-ERs.
