I was surprised to see a fat envelope from Hertz #1 Club Gold in my mailbox this week. On opening it, I found a letter (dated 1-Aug-06) and booklets which told me about changes to the rental conditions effective 1-Jan-06 and changes to the privacy policy effective 30-Nov-05. It said that my next #1 Club Gold rental would indicate my acceptance of the conditions.
I'd already heard about the changes through FlyerTalk so it was nothing new to me but why does Hertz think it is OK to inform me 8 months after the changes have come into effect? I've had a few Hertz rentals this year so would they have been sufficient to indicate my acceptance of the conditions? I assume not but it would have been interesting if I'd tried to question some of the fine print on my recent rentals.
Is it normal for them to send out this type of information so late?
