Starwood Preferred Guest - Hotel Grand Bretagne - award booking assistance
I tried to book the Hotel Grand Bretagne using my Starpoints with a check in of May 28th, 2007 for 5 nights. The hotel has "best available" rates displayed in all room categories, yet no award nights. I assume this is because award rooms have yet to be released? Does anyone have any idea when award inventory is released?
Thanks in advance!

Unless the hotel specifically asks us to open up the award rate plans for bookings in 2007, you probably will not be able to book an award there until January (maybe late December), which is basically when the category status of this hotel for 2007 will be determined.
Some people here have said that a workaround can be had by calling Platinum Concierge; however, I'd have to say that YMMV on that suggestion.

Tried to book 2 nights for October 2007 ran into the same problem, Platinum Concierge booked a room for me at best available rate and told me they will monitor when award bookings open up and then switch my res and get me an award room, I just told them Ok, and will check back with them in a few months.

Not to be dense, but I'm Gold. Do I have to be Platnium to utilitze the service of the Platnium concierge?

Yes, but they should be able to do this at the Gold line as well. However, alot depends upon the associate you get and the circumstances as well, so that is why I said YMMV.
