Hey all,

I tried searching for the answer to this topic but nothing really applied to my specific situation. Though Amex centurion I get comp. membership in #1 club gold. I am 19, but the website for hertz would not let me sign up with that age, so I just changed to say I am 23. I did put in my valid drivers license in and everything went smoothly, I now have a number and am just waiting on a membership packet to arrive.

Does anyone know if I called hertz to change the birthday on my acct to my legitimate one, would they cancel the account because I lied initially or does centurion have a special deal with hertz where they will overlook the underage fact? If they do care and I just leave it as is, do they actually check age when I go to rent a car, or do they just check to see if name/picture match? Also, in that case, would I be charged the underage fee or does centurion have a special deal on that as well? Thanks all

FWIW...I do have an ID that matches the age that I used to sign up ;)

I would have called Hertz first and not lied about your age. There are many corporate CDP's that allow for under 23 to join #1 gold and waive any surcharges. Any insurance that is offered via your CC or by Hertz could be invalidated because of your little age adjustment. Insurance companies do look for reasons to deny coverage all the time.

I thought about the insurance issue, but thats the least of my concerns cause my personal insurance covers rentals as well. Theres a few reasons I did not sign up with the various corporate CDP's out there. 1- fee is waived for centurion, I am unaware of any cdp that allows me to bypass the gold fee. 2- I wanted to sign up with centurion cdp for the special upgrades they do for the members.

Really? I thought that most corporate CDP's do just that. Mine does. I do not know of anyone who pays to join #1 gold. I'm not talking about AAA, or other membership CDPs.

You could sign up using a corporate CDP. Once done, you can use any CDP for a rental that you are eligible to use.

If you are not worried about the insurance, then you will not have many issues. The smaller issues may ask about your age or say something, but most are in to much of a hurry to ever talk to a person or look at any thing other then the name is the same on the contract and ID.
