I have a Palm T|X. I don't have wifi access right where I am at, but can get access to the Internet via a bluetooth connection to my Nokia 6230.
Any suggestions then on what Palm IM client should I use?
I've always been a fan of Agilemessenger:

Never tried the Palm version though...

I have used agilemessenger on my last few palms (current is also a T|X). The palm version is still in beta. That means it is free but not the nicest UI. Still the price is great and it is very functional. I use it via BT (Verizon and V710) and WiFi but I am not a heavy IM user.
If you decide to go the shareware route, Verichat and Chapours usually get very high recommendations on the palm forums (Brightand,1src, palmaddicst etc).

If I am not mistaken, Verichat runs through third party servers; I've always been a little careful with running an IM client that doesn't directly connect with the IM provider.

You are right, as usual ;), about that. Verichat is a "service" with a yearly fee as opposed to a one time software charge. I never thought about sending the data through a third party but I hardly use IM.
