Starwood Preferred Guest - online availability of honolulu starwood properties

I don't know if it's just me but I get "no availability" for all properties in honolulu except for the W when I look online. I'm looking for dates between 8/17 to 22. I'm wondering if it's some online booking glitch. Yesterday, the Sheraton Waikiki showed up but it's "no availability" today. I looked on expedia, etc. and they show rooms in all the properties. I know they buy block of rooms in advance and sell them but I can't imagine these hotels being out of rooms and the discounts sites showing rooms available. Prefer to book through Starwood...
Anyone have any insights, whether truly these properties are sold out for the days I'm looking for?

I've seen exactly what you are describing on two recent occasions. One day availability looks either wide open or there is nothing, and the next day it is the opposite. Then the next day it swings the other way again. It's as dramatic as "no rooms available" one day, to many categories of rooms (including free nights) available the next. It's very strange.
I have also seen that availability and prices at HNL hotels tend to get better within a few days of arrival. I suspect this is because Starwood has allocated a certain number of rooms to various booking channels (i.e. Expedia), then when those rooms aren't sold a few days prior, the hotel gets them back.
For relatively last minute trips like you are describing, I suggest booking something that you can change or cancel, so that you have something to fall back on, then watching the site every day for these fluctuations. You may find the best rooms & deals a couple days prior to your arrival.

Yeah that's my plan. Just wanted to verify if anyone knew of any minor online booking bugs on spg.com.
