Hi,

A quick question, I was playing around recently and looking at rates for different cdp numbers and unbeknown to me the hertz booking engine held the cdp number in my profile and next time I booked I received that rate. I didn't realise it at the time as it didn't even show up obviously on the booking. Didn't appear with the cdp company name on the paperwork either - the only reason I noticed it was when I was glancing over the hertz paperwork I spotted the cdp number.

My question is - would I have still been covered with the Accident Damage Excess of that CDP or would it have reverted to the standard Accident Damage Excess (AUS$2000) or would I have to pay for the entire damage to the vehicle if it was written off in an accident?

It wasn't my fault the cdp staying in my profile..

Any thoughts?

I'd say that they'd probably use the CDP that was in the profile when you made the booking. If you're renting on business and your company insurance covers you, you shouldn't have problems if you get involved in an accident.

When booking online at hertz.com the CDP you are using clearly shows up on the right hand side of the screen under the "HOW" section. Also it appears on the final confirmation screen just below the "RESERVE IT" labeled as "CDP NAME:" And it appears in the email you get from Hertz to confirm your reservation the CDP is listed as "CDP Discount Plan: "
*this is base on my experience with hertz.com

As benefits change by CDP, you would have been bound by the benefits of the CDP you choose. I'd be careful in the future to avoid any mix-ups.

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't be left out in the cold and responsible for the entire cost of repairs or replacement if I had a cdp in my booking for a company I didn't even work for.

?

On your rental contract there is usually some wording like "I certify that I'm eligible to receive the benefits of CDP XXX"

Not to be overall harsh but technically you used a CDP that you were not entitled to use. I have done this on occasion in order to get a better rate. But it would be at your own peril regarding any insurance etc.
