Hi, first post here (been too busy traveling).
I currently have an i-mate SP3i smart phone. There are a few features I really don't like about the platform so I'm looking for something else. I also don't like blackberry devices. At least I don't like the ones I've seen and I've seen most.
What I want in a new phone (most to least important):
1. Syncs at least my contacts with my computer. Typing them in on a full sized keyboard is soooo much nicer! And I refuse to type in my hundreds of contacts on a phone pad if I get a new phone. Syncing w/ Outlook contacts would be awesome, but not required. Syncing with something on my computer is required.
2. Small / decent looks / probably clamshell, maybe a slider or twist. I'm not a fan of the candy bar form factor phone I have now.
3. Supports EDGE data
4. Supports at Bluetooth (at least version 1.2)
5. Would like to be able to use it as a modem for my laptop (via bluetooth would be nice, via cable would be acceptable)
I like the RAZR a lot, is there some way to sync contacts with my computer that I'm missing? Do any other phones support that feature?
I really don't want another smart phone, but if that's the only way I get synced contacts I guess I'll have to do it.
Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Welcome to Flyertalk. I THINK that a Nokia 6230i fits the bill and it a fantastic, and small phone, although it is a bar shape. Perhaps others can chip in. I havent heard much good about the Razr other than looks.

I looked at the product page [1], but couldn't find anything about syncing the contacts with a computer. Am I missing something? Otherwise it looks like a nice phone.

Check the optional (and free) PC Suite software. (http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,72014,00.html) They have the whole manual online for the software. Im pretty sure it does. It is a fantastic phone in terms of battery life, reception and sound.

I have a Sony Ericcson T630, which replaced my T610. T-Mobile service
It does everything you ask except EDGE data (I do not know what that is), although it is also a 'candy-bar' phone (I prefer that type).
It syncs perfectly with Outlook (at home) and Lotus Notes (at work), calendar and contacts. Just set up the bluetooth configuration for PIM sync. It's easy.
There's also a freeware program called 'Float's Mobile Agent', or FMA, easy to find with a search. It is a nice simple way to sync to your PC without using outlook, and also do anything on your phone through the PC.
I regularly use it to gain internet access on my laptop. Via bluetooth (stays in my pocket). It's very convenient at the airport. $19.99/mo for unlimited Internet. A fair bit slower than Verizon but also much cheaper.
I am a big fan of the Sony phones. I imagine almost any medium to high end Sony will do all this just as well as mine. Hopefully you can find one that has EDGE.

I'm using a Motorola V360. I believe it has all you're looking for. You would have to purchase phonetools to sync, but you can do everything you're asking.
I use it for VPN access via EDGE/Bluetooth. It comes with a USB cable as well. Phonetools allows sync with outlook and notes (probably others, too).
You might want to ask on Howardforums... you'll probably get quite a variety of interesting answers.

I second the Nokia 6230i recommendation. I've had one for 2 years and love it. I sync with my computer via bluetooth, including outlook, using the free Nokia software.
I think you can get the similar capabilities in the SE z520a and the SE software. It is a flip phone with a nice form factor.
The RAZR does sync, do a search on Google for Motorola mobile phone tools.

But not EDGE.

My T-Mobile RAZR also acts as a GPRS modem for Internet access when I'm outside the range of WiFi routers. I pay $20 per month for that, plus the cost of voice service, but it works just fine when I'm stuck on an airplane and the takeoff is delayed.

The Nokia 6230 or 6230i will do the same but at EDGE speeds in most places in the US now. Not as fast as Verizon EVDO but EDGE is pretty fast and to me noticeably faster than GPRS.
w810i has what you need and I believe they also came out with some newer models recently - all with edge.
