I was told by Hertz that the mileage earned on a rental has changed and now costs to get the milage. Is this true?

For awhile, Hertz has charged a $.50/day surcharge if you choose to earn frequent flyer miles for your car rental. So yes, I suppose you could say that there is a cost to earning those miles...
