Ipod/Digital camera prices in Shanghai vs. Hong Kong
How much do older model (but still good) digital cameras go for in Shanghai vs. Hong Kong?
Is it worth making a trip to Hong Kong to pick up a camera and an ipod, or should I not bother and buy both in Shanghai?
Where are the best deals in Shanghai for REAL ipods and cameras? How much would I be looking to spend in both cities?

Know your US prices before you go. With electronics, overseas pricing is often not as good and risk of counterfeits and defective goods is higher. Also, you may not get a US warranty. Check froogel and other shopping sites and eBay to get a feel for pricing. Big box retailers are rarely the best deal pricewise, but return policy and low extended warranty prices make them worth checking as well.
Camera specs just keep getting better. If you are buying an older model, be sure you understand what you are missing.
Good luck.

Know your US prices before you go.I definitely agree. While I cannot speak to Shanghai, I have traveled to many other locations in Asia and, as a rule, have found the prices in the US to be better.

That's what I hear as well. With Best Buy (add dot com to see online) and Fry's (forgot website now, but NOT frys.com) as well as a bunch of online only sites it will probably be cheaper to buy in US. Not really current with CDN prices, but if you live close to the border, you can always cross it to buy whatever you like.
OTOH, it would be a good way to get rid of some of those RBMs ;)

You may find yourself paying the same (if not perhaps more) amount of money for an authentic iPod in mainland China. Then again, I do not believe authenticity holds any weight there among consumers. For the sake of purchasing a real iPod, you might be better off in Hong Kong stores.
You can buy FAKE Ipod Nano 4 GB in any major Chinese city for around 200 RMB (appr. 25 USD). They look alright, but is really crap and does NOT contain 4 GB memory. Buy it in the US; most things in China are fake/copies.
