Hi,
Does anyone know where I can pay for an upgrade to business at Bangkok airprt flying BKK to HKG on CX? Costs?
Thanks

If you're in a suit , and ask nicely if the flight is full, or whether you can get an empty seat next to you, you might very well get an op-up if the flight really is full or overbooked.
Or else just ask at the Ticketing counter at the airport about the upgrade. There really isn't any set price.

I've done that one many a time, and on various sub-classes (but all mileage-earning of course). The price has always been THB 5000.
To the OP, check-in as normal and ask to buy the u/g. If your fare is valid (ie milage earning) and of course there's a seat free, they'll check you in then send you to the CX office on the far wall adjacent to the CX counters to pay/pick up BP. All fairly effortless.

As an aside two weeks ago I was upgrade from Y to C free of charge both ways on a cheap air miles earning ticket. Apparently according to various posts I recall reading to Bangkok there is a higher chance of being upgraded than other routes.
Flights was packed both ways and while I was originally not that fussed until my return flight CX702 went u/s and did not get away from BKK until 02 45 next morning after they substituted the inbound CX709 aircraft.
To add the CX crew and ground staff were magnificent in handling everything, especially people with connectons, though there was one American gentleman, who was definitely American but certainly no gentleman who was determined to make life as difficult as possible for people trying to assist and could not be blamed for the delay. He even gave the Qantas Club Lounge staff a hard time!
Suggest you check to see if you have been upgraded first if you have status on MPC go to the self check in as my upgrade showed up on the system there much to my surprise.
Just an FYI, CX has a BKK I fare of around 4,700 HKD, so depending on the price of your original economy ticket, it may be worthwhile to buy a I ticket in the first place.

Heresy on the CX board I know ( :D ), but the last time I needed at do HKG-BKK a few weeks ago, I couldn't find a CX Y fare cheaper than 4800+ tax (and the cheapest J was IIRC 8000 - needed a one month return, so no cheaper subclasses in either cabin), but found a TG F fare online at 4600 inclusive! TG F cheaper than CX Y!

I'm confused. CX has a published 0/1M fare at HK$3360/3560 (depending on season) + taxes. Books into B. Tour code HKG6030/F38. As a Gold you could get guaranteed access to that at 72 hours notice. And if B was full as a Gold you'd probably be getting an upgrade anyway.

I don't know if it's just me, but my last two trips (in three months) to BKK, I've been op-uped from Y to J HKG to BKK on both segments! But then again, I travel on Friday and come back on Sunday. If only I had the same kind of luck ex-LAX.

Sorry - should have explained fuller. Needed to fly on that day (ie at the last minute), so the guarantee was no good and CX only had full Y available. Found the TG fare online, but had to book it via the phone (one of the things CX has over TG is that with TG online it seems you can only book flights 3 days hence). Was my first time on TG for ages (my ROP status is comp), and my first time with them in F - actually not a bad experience at all.

What are the requirements for an I fare? How about for a B fare?
I'm looking at BKK-HKG-vv. in late December. Should be a low level of business travellers but a high number of liesure travellers-- unclear to me how many would be paying for Business Class. Right now, everything is pricing out as a full J fare, about US$700 roundtrip. Is it just too early to see any discounted fare classes? Anyone have suggestions? My status is on Delta; no status on any oneworld carrier.
We'll be two pax travelling together both ways. Does CX ever do Two-to-Go promotions for Business Class? If so, when would those appear online?
As an alternative to buying confirmed J tix in advance, would you recommend just buying mileage-earning Y tix and buying the upgrade for 5000baht at the airport?
Many thanks in advance.
