I see in KVS loads look quite light out of SYD, is there a preferrable flight to take with a light load in Y? Or one where I may have a chance of an Opup (dont worry I fly QF most of the time so I'm not expecting one)

Thanks

I dont hope to get op-up in SYD route... I received lots more op-up on BKK, AKL, MNL etc routes than SYD... Nearly none for me on SYD route, no matter how full the flights are. I think the reason is that even F and J are full already, therefore, no op-up avail.

i think CX138 the new overnight flight has the most light-loading, unless there is a promotion on CX138/257 connection for LHR service. Normally ex-SYD have big sale on CX138/139. and the 3pm flight (forgot flight number) is the most packed one, from my experiences!!

Tried CX101 op-up only..

The CX flights appear to be very light I just checked KVS for tomorrow and bucket is showing 9 right down to S.

I guess I'm no chance of an op-up if its like that but I might get a few seats around me to stretch out on.

I just took CX110 on 31st July. About 70 pax in Y, J was mostly full, about 6 empty seats, and F had 1 pax.

However, all the flights ex HKG to SYD are full to the brim. The F/A I was chatting to confirmed that flights ex HKG are really full.....how come the returns are empty??

Time of year - all the Australian expat families going home for the school holidays in HK. Plus various HK-ers trying to get away from the heat/rain...

Just a FYI, I took VS to SYD recently in J, and surprisingly, a few seats were empty on the Friday night departure two weeks ago, and the entire middle section (1/3 of the seats) were empty last Saturday. The Z fare I got though my TA was $16,500 - it's $17,240 from VS direct. D fare with the limo and free date changes is $21,000.

I can report that the service was every bit as good as CX or even better on the outbound, the food miles better, however, the return was nothing special, and my salmon was way overcooked.

I enjoyed the flat seats very much - never was so comfortable sleeping in a J seat. No, it does not feel claustaphobic; in fact I quite liked the privacy afforded by the tall partitions.

In short great flights at a great price, it would be almost perfect if only the crews were more consistent. Everyone should give VS a try.

My wife rode CX138 SYD-HKG overnight a couple of weeks ago and reported it was an extremely light load -- business class less than half full. I rode CX110 SYD-HKG the next morning and noticed the same; we boarded about 100 in all classes. We were both surprised. Great inflight service, not much profit in it for CX though.

A week ago, CX138 had just my trio in the front cabin. I kinda felt sorry for them having to cater for us.

Little follow up to my earlier question about SYD-HKG loads.

How are the CX flights upto PEK. I'm taking a flight same day as my SYD-HKG flight onto PEK. If I can get my BP in Sydney for the PEK flight should I, or would my op-up chances be better served if I get my BP in HKG.

thanks

When you check in your flight at SYD, it must means that it is still 9 or more hours until your next CX flight out of HKG. CX may not yet decide if they need to op-up people... Even when you are on SYD-HKG flight and they decide to op-up people, they can still easily bring up the priority-list of members to get upgrade in their computer and put a note to issue you a new upgraded BP at HKG once you arrive HKG from SYD. I guess the chance of being upgraded is same, no matter you check in at HKG or SYD...

But correct me if anyone have "internal" information or previous experience...

OpUp chances are independent of where you get your BP in my opinion.
